Mini Erasers! Easy Activiites & a freebie

I, like many of you, have fallen for the mini eraser craze. At first I bought them because honestly who wouldn't? They are adorable and a hands on manipulative that will SURELY keep my students engaged during centers, or math stations, or whatever. Right?

Right! However......I kept buying them and then I didn't really know what to do with them other than throw them in a counting bin or have them cover their alphabet cards with them. I just got out an apple set I bought last year (or the year before) that was not even out of the package. I bought them just to buy them and then I didn't do anything with them!

I went ahead and threw those in a fine motor bin for Monday morning but I still wasn't clear on how I wanted my students to use them so I messed around with them a bit.
Here is what I came up with:

Such a silly little activity but my kiddos are going to love it because this is what they do most of the time anyway! Stacking things must be human nature because it seems like that's all my students want to do with manipulatives (especially pattern blocks).  I added a dice (dice is both singular and plural in modern English...I looked it up) and I think I'll throw in some tongs too to make it even more challenging. Students roll the dice and then add that many apples to their stacks.

What do you do with all of your erasers? I have seen people use the little tool box systems to store them and I think they must leave them out all year long. I do not do that. I put them away with my seasonal bins in a simple zip lock bag. Works for me! I have started looking at all of my October stuff and my erasers are waiting patiently for me. I will probably change out these apples for pumpkins in a week or so. We are working on our ALL ABOUT APPLES unit now and will start learning about pumpkins once we get back from Fall Break. I'm not counting down or anything....but it is getting close!

So if you are like me and have a growing collection of erasers and you don't know what to do with them this post was for you! Here is a fun little freebie I made last week while I was working on some apple lessons for my kiddos. It goes along with the book Ouch! by Ragnhild Scamell. Grab it HERE!

Looking for the book? My copy is called Apple Trouble. The only copy I can find now is called Ouch!  Here is an affiliate link to Amazon if you would like it. It is a really cute book about a hedgehog that gets an apple stuck in his spines. I am a sucker for hedgehog books! If you purchase through this link I get a small amount of money at no additional cost to you. Thank you for supporting my blog!

If you want to save it for later you can pin it here! Thanks!
