I have been thinking of this lately so this comes along just in time!

This week we are finishing up our unit “Where We Are in Place and Time” with a summative assessment that I call Tell Me About the Day I Was Born. Our central idea for the unit states that documenting personal histories gives us a better understanding of ourselves. What better than documenting the special day you joined your family!
I am going to start out by reading the book Tell Me Again About the Night I Was Born by Jamie Lee Curtis.
After sharing this in class together students will interview their parents about the day/night they were born.
Here is an interview sheet that I made so my students could interview their parents to find out all the “juicy details” (that’s our favorite saying in my class!) about the day they were born. Click here if you would like a copy!
I am also playing around with some ideas for a graphic organizer for the kids to use after they interview their parents. We almost always use an organizer before writing so I wanted to stay true to form. Here is what I have so far.
If you would like a copy of this you can get it at my Tpt store CLICK HERE for FREE! :)
I am excited to work on this activity this week! I hope the writing goes as smoothly as I imagine it in my mind!
Happy Teaching! Mrs. Langley
